The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has enacted new guidelines for lead based paints under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). The new guidelines will be phased in over three years from 600ppm to 300ppm to 100ppm. This guideline is primarily for children's products intended for use by ages 12 and under, however article 16 CFR 1303, also includes, but is not limited to, beds, dressers, desks, pianos, console TV's and sofas. Products manufactured after February 10th, 2009 require a general conformity certification.
All of our substrates, paints and stains for finished products are purchased from Carolina Solvents, Inc. The following is an excerpt from a letter provided by Jackie B. Yoder, Chemist/Safety Coordinator from Carolina Solvents, Inc.
"No lead or lead compounds are used by Carolina Solvents, Inc. (CSI) in the manufacture of any CSI product. A documentation search of Material Safety Data Sheets and Technical Data Sheets for all raw materials purchased by CSI did not reveal the presence of even trace amounts of lead or lead compounds in any raw materials."
